Make some popcorn, add some rosemary to the buttery topping (our favorite, plus rosemary is for remembrance), and settle in for the next 40 minutes.

I am happy to share this compilation of trail-camera photos and videos with you, taken within the Oliverian Everlasting neighborhood between 2017-2026.

This project started as a whim for Gil, and me, to better understand the land we share with wildlife and their antics while we aren’t watching. For each image or video, Gil sorted through literally thousands, many of wind blowing grasses or rain splattering the lens. Oh, but when something “good” popped up, his excitement was whole-hearted animation. Over the decade, he spent many hours each week sorting, saving, and sharing. When ALS stole his ability to be in the forest, others retrieved disks for him. In his last days, he compiled this video, with captions, explanations, a few typos, and humor. He put the finishing touches on this collection three days before he died.

He would be so thrilled for his audience to grow. Enjoy, and thank you.
